Nestled in the tranquil countryside of East Yorkshire, Oakland Waters Fishery in Goole offers a premier angling experience for both seasoned anglers and newcomers alike. With its diverse range of lakes and abundant fish species, it's a destination that promises both relaxation and excitement.
🎣 A Variety of Lakes for Every Angler
Oakland Waters boasts four distinct lakes, each catering to different fishing preferences:
Horseshoe Lake: True to its name, this horseshoe-shaped lake features an island running down the centre. With 39 pegs and depths ranging from 6ft to 10ft, it offers a mixed bag of species including carp, tench, barbel, roach, rudd, bream, ide, perch, crucians, and chub.
Round Lake: A smaller lake with 16 pegs, ideal for club matches. It features an underground island and lily pads, providing unique fishing spots. The lake hosts a variety of fish similar to Horseshoe Lake.
Roadside Carp Lake: Stocked in 2005 with carp ranging from 2lb to 10lb, some now reaching over 16lb. This lake has a central island and depths between 8ft and 12ft. It's designated for coarse fishing only, with specific rules: no boilies, rod pods, or alarms; a minimum of 5lb line or elastic is required; and it's for adults only due to the size of the fish.
Specimen Lake: Spanning two acres, this lake is home to impressive specimen fish, including carp up to 30lb, Wells catfish up to 85lb, and pike up to 30lb. Note that pike fishing is closed from April to the end of September. With only 12 pegs available, booking is essential, especially on weekends and bank holidays.
🐟 Abundant Fish Species
Anglers at Oakland Waters can expect to catch a diverse range of species:
Carp: Including mirror, common, crucian, and ghost carp.
Predators: Wells catfish and pike, offering thrilling challenges.
Coarse Fish: Roach, rudd, tench, perch, bream, barbel, ide, and chub.
This variety ensures year-round fishing opportunities, catering to different angling styles and preferences.
